About the age category: Student 18 to 26 years

The Student category includes all passengers from 18 to 26 years of age who study on a high school or at a college in the Czech Republic.

The fare

  • When travelling only sporadically with PID, basic short-term tickets are offered to you
  • In order to compare single-journey and season tickets use our Tariff calculator
  • When travelling outside of Prague, it is recommended to know the PID zone system

These short-term tickets are valid in the whole area of Prague in all transport means and on all PID lines (except AE). The paper ticket has to be validated. Since the validation time it can be used for the specified amount of time, regardless of the number of line transfers (the waiting time at stops does not extend the validity time). SMS tickets can be used only with Czech mobile operator SIM card and only within the zone P.

Within Prague, students may acquire an approx. 50% discount when using season tickets (a confirmation from the school is needed). See Season tickets around Prague around the outer region.

In the outer region students pay half-priced tickets if they prove their age and their studies by ISIC card or pupil's card. In order to prove age, an ID card verified by its issuer (e.g. a school) that contains first and last name, date of birth and a photo can be used. National ID or passport can be used. If necessary, such card can be issued also by the transit operator.

These short-term tickets are valid in the whole region, including the area of Prague (for exceptions see Remarks). The tickets are not valid on the line AE. A purchased ticket needs to be validated. A ticket is valid for the specified amount of time, regardless of the number of line transfers. A ticket is also valid only in the specified number of adjacent zones. For instance when travelling from zone 2 to zone 4, at least 3-zones ticket must be used. Tickets issued by suburban bus drivers are valid immediately and therefore can not be validated.
